Hiya,

Happy Easter!

Ive had my Chim for 8 years now.. love her like the first day I saw her!

However what i dont love is the yearly issues im having.. this time we believe its the immobiliser!

Last year it was getting too hot and didnt start until it cooled down.. so we by passed it so when it turned but didnt let fuel in, until you pressed the button,

This year it cut (whilst driving) and it has to be something to do with this, therefore I want this off all together..

Does anyone know if the immobiliser is wired via the ECU to save my mechanic time to figure this out?

Cheers
Jaz

The immobiliser has three circuits, ignition, fuel and starter solenoid. You can bypass all quite simply, of course your insurance company should be informed, not that it's differcult for anybody with a little knowledge. Just to add mine "used to " cut out mid over take on the ignition side of the immobiliser. Got rid and custom made a new immobiliser, nobody would know how to bypass.

Owners in teh past have reported some cars were wired with the immob. cutting power to the ECU. One of those YMMV things with no one specific simple answer.

Alternatively you could always give Carl Baker a call and get him to sort it - have had no problems at all with my alarm and immobiliser since he replaced the whole lot. biggrin
