Bank holidays are useless!

So ive got the gearbox and very loose release bearing out.

New release bearing is sat at the Post office collection office..... SHUT! I assume they will be open tomorrow morning. So thats 2 days oiled up to my elbows and rushed to get the car running to get to York.

My new set of RSRs wer attempted delivery yesterday but taken back to the depot despite intructions to leave with a neighbour. So what does next working day delivery mean? Tuesday? No good to me.

Looks like i will be reinstructing city link to return to sender and getting my tyres £75 cheaper from BMTR.

Frustrating isn't it!

The Sag blew the 100 amp fuse on the way home Tuesday. Ordered a new one Tuesday night - still waiting.

Sag immobilised for the bank holiday for the sake of a few pence.

Go to your nearest motor electrical factors (Yellow Pages or Google) and get a 125A midi fuse for about 2-3 quid tops, and the midi type are more mechanically robust. It's a straight swap...and you'll be mobile.....Disconnect battery, remove both halves of airbox and the fuse holder is just in front of the starter motor.

Car is sitting in the Garage waiting to be picked up,was finished yesterday but couldn't get to them .... but they are shut today..... so having to wait till tomorrow :humph:

Wish I could choose my bank holidays for the days I want them (ie add another say 6 days to my anual leave)

First "proper" drive out in 5 months in mine today. Where to? TVR Power for its service!
Oh, and really struggled to find any V-Power so had to go for BP Ultimate instead.

Yes, I have it all disassembled ready for a new fuse, but nowhere open until Tuesday where I live, which I expect is when a replacement will arrive in the post anyway.

Hi Is there not a tiver near you with a fuse they could let you have till you get yours ? Then you could give it to them .. I always carry one ,,,,

I live in the sticks but I'll be at Neil Garner's TVR Open Day at the Kemble tomorrow so hoping he or one of the stands has one.

Brewtime.

gearbox is bolted in with a new release bearing in place.

Just the prop, gearbox mount, repaired exhaust, gear stick etc, interior trim and a few other bits and pieces then the test drive.
I thought the old release bearing was loose but to be honest it didnt seem that bad compared to the new one.
I am now hoping those nasty noises arent gearbox related.

Hmm, I would have thought the bearing would be obvious.

I think we should name ouselves, "The not so lucky b*ggers"!

It sounded fine for about 20 seconds while i dipped the clutch and selected a few gears then the grinding noise came back.

But only out of gear or when the clutch is dipped...? Any ideas?

Sounds like the main shaft bearing as the main shaft spins in neutral or there abouts, b*gger!

I will be setting off to York early tomorrow morning whatever.
Then somehow (maybe the AA) to readman racing for gearbox and diff rebuilds.

I know what you mean, i have to plan deliverys so it arrives for when i get home or its a boring week with feckall to do, unless its windy! the worst thing about bank hols for me is i work them and dont get paid extra

I always carry a couple of 100s ever since mine went in Spain a few years ago, also moved the holder on to the side of the engine bay to save all the faffing with the air box,fingers crossed its not blown since.

Ah well. At least you can all draw some comfort that it has rained all over the Hols.

That's a good shout. I do think the MIDI type of fuses are supposed to be more mechanically robust...that's what I have in mine now...and I've gone for 125A. Likewise, no probs since changing though
