Has anyone an UNMODIFIED GRIF 500 engine DYNOGRAPH ?
I have browsed the internet and many V8 sites but all I can find are modified 4.6, 5, 5.2 liter engines dynos but there is nowhere a regular from factory TVR 500 engine dyno. I know there is a regular and Mark Adams retuned 400 dyno on PistonHeads website (Manek's Chimaera) but nowhere a regular 500 dyno.
Anyone can help me ?

Phil

198 at the wheel? that is pretty poor for a car with a claimed 350

I too have heard that your'e lucky to get 270 BHP, from the 5.0 litre engine. How do TVR claim 340 BHP if this is the case? Haven't had a dyno yet, but would be interested in getting one done. Still 270 BHP in a car weighing what it does is not slow!

I think it is best forgotten, for all of us.

TVR Should be giving us all a Supercharger at no extra cost then the 500's would go like it sez on the tin - not fast enough top end!, and the odd bit of chipping IS NOT going to get you there the internals were just not spec'd up enough when new - 3 grand + would be needed - so whats the point keep saving for a Tuscan at least it has closer to what it sez on the tin.

You have to be kidding - I've hit 160 indicated in my Griff 500 with the roof off (on a private autoroute of course) and it was still accelerating.

This shows the effect of a Tornado chip on a previously standard Griffith 500 with a before (unmodified) and after graph. Having said that, my car does seem to be slightly above average putting out an unmodified 278bhp at Power Engineering.

278 bhp - thats progress ! my 1965 E-type with an uprated engine has a genuine 295 bhp from 4.5 litres.

But it still won't touch a Griff 500 for acceleration or top speed. That's the real point here - TVR have a tendency to bullshit about BHP figures, but their performance figures seem spot on.

Still, 295 ponies in a 40 year old car must be fun
