Can anybody offer any suggestions why my power stearing is whining on start up? The power steering fluid tank is half full. Any ideas?
Cheers

possibly an air lock then. my mechanic found the level very low before the service last summer. It has a funny grinding/clicking feeling on full lock too - air lock?
Any ideas how to bleed the power steering?
Any tips on curing of squeeky breaks too?

If you losing fluid you will have a leak somewhere either in the pipes or rack itself. For airlock take cap of reservoir and turn wheel lock to lock with engine running took a while for mine to clear

Changing the oil and cleaning the strainer can cure many ills with PAS unless of course its just low on oil or as old knackered oil frown

Please see steering rack leaking thread on at the mo. I have been told by TVR Experts, and I work with them that the fluid can leak in to the gaitors and explode. Mine has not exploded but that is where the fluid is going.

Thats a generic fault on most manafturers PAS racks.

That might be but the power steering making noises, half the fluid missing and the gaitors full of it means seals need replacing.

Quick question, can't find the exact answer in the bible...

When topping up the PAS fluid (got Mobil ATF 220) how far up should you fill the PAS fluid reservoir?

Squeeky breaks. Been told Ferrodo pads don't Squeeky.
On max lock 'funny' noise is normal on TVR and my BMW. Ignore.
