Apologies if this should be in valeting, but wondered if anyone could offer some advice...

My car lives outside, no garage, and the mohair roof has started to get quite a few mould/mildew spots that are a lighter green than the rest of the roof.

I've actually had a go at getting rid of them previously - I used a weak solution of disolved Milton tablet, then Johnson's baby shampoo (apparently it's PH neutral!), then a coat of Renovo black then a couple of coats of Fabsil proofer.

Although the roof is still resisting water well, the mould spots have increased and got more noticeable.

Rather than muddle through, I thought I'd let a professional treat it, but the one I contacted only advised me to bring it over for a look (I live over an hour from him), no mention of if he could do it or prices...

So... is this something a professional is geared up to do? Is there any near West Yorkshire that will do it?

I kind of feel I should be able to do it but I'm scared of knacking it further.

Cheers!

Could try mould/mildew spray from B&Q. Might stain the roof, might work a treat. I'll try later on my greenery once there's no prediction of rain.

I had exactly this with an Audi A4 Cabriolet.

The stuff you need is Autoglym hood cleaner. It's a two part thing, you clean it with some spray on solution and a rough sponge that comes with it, then hose it off and spray it with the proofing stuff. Comes up like brand new and the water beads on it!

Fantastic kit.

Alternatively... Paint roof in fish paste, the local cats will do the rest.

I didn't have any mouldy spots on mine, but the black was looking tired in places, and this stuff brought it up a treat. Highly recommended.

I think it depends on where you park it. The problem with fabric roofs in winter is that if you haven't got a garage, and especially if your parking area is in the shade, they seem to spend a lot of time damp. Hence the mould.
