Apologies if there's a car audio section I've missed.

I'm building a camping kitchen trailer. What's that? It's a trailer which has a small work surface, fridge and cooker built-in along with a water supply for drinking and a small sink, and some small storage for cutlery and crockery.

I haven't worked it all out yet but I want it to have some sort of pull out cover so you can stand and cook in the dry even when it's raining.

It will have a leisure battery, campsite-mains electric charger and 13-pin electrical hook-up to my car's own electrical system to power the fridge, some lights, and chargers.

I'd like to incorporate some speakers and an amp for MP3s. We camp away from civilisation so we won't be bothering anyone.

I want a pair of small speakers and a hidden sub. I quite JBL's mono base tube. Can you get an amp that accepts a stereo pair but gives you outputs for L and R speakers and a mono output based on the combined input for the sub?

most 4 channel amps can be bridged to power 2 speakers and 1 sub, HTH

Funny how things turn out... apparently a friend has an old Kenwood KAC-823 in his shed doing nothing. Perfect for the job. biggrin

That is a 2 channel is it not? Are you using a car stereo in the trailer? If so, use the intrernal radio amp to power the speakers. Then bridge that amp for the sub.

I'm not sure. It has something called "tri mode" which I thought was L, R, and sub. I'm trying to find an on-line manual.

Not too bothered if it's L, R, *or* sub because it has line level audio outs too, so I could always hook it up to another amp and sub.

It's become a scrapheap challenge now. I have a pair of 6x9s in my shed which I hadn't considered previously - thinking it would be easier and lighter to buy a pair of JBL control 1 speakers but now that I have a free amp from a friend I have decided to see what I can collect and re-use. I want a rather expensive fridge for the trailer so anything I can save in providing the music will help with that.

I now need a few plywood panels and would like a sub (and possibly another amp) to give us a bit of boom around the campfire. And some idea how to join wood to form a strong but light-ish box. Where's the home joinery forum? smile

Thanks for your help. I'll chase up a manual.

Found a manual:

Page 15 shows that you can use the tri-mode to connect a pair of speakers AND a sub to the 2-paiirs of terminals.

Nice. Should be able to find a cheap/free passive sub now.
