Hi all,
Only just got the car and it failed MOT today as it was leaking fuel up at the front? I hear this might be a common problem but If anyone has any ideas where the leak is coming from it would save me time and money getting it fixed and would be really appreciated! Thanks, Matt

OP says from the frontconfused

Anyway ,how to diagnose a leak over the net is beyond meblah

OP .Stick your head under the car and take a look or you could

have asked the MOT tester for some clues

But initially it is coming from the tank. I would remove tank and that would be less hassle in the future.

Get a torch, run the car and shine it around and look for drips, mist of fuel etc, my Saab was leaking and I did this and saw there was a fine jet of fuel coming out of the side of the fuel filter as it had gone porous due to corrosion, so if you are lucky it may just be a filter but potentially its fuel lines, not the end of the world but can be a fiddly job.

Exactly. Who knows? If the OP is that daft to ask questions on the forum instead of taking car to a mechanic. The daft question needs a daft answer. I believe the OP is not mechanically minded...

I had a leak on mine. The fuel filter is under the passenger seat. Got mine replaced and all sorted.

The OP (me) is 19, works part time in a bar and cant always afford to just throw the car in to a garage.obviously I would rather but up a quick note on this before I head for my shift than to spend unnecesary time at it myself. (MOT man said he hadn't a clue)

It was the flow and return pipe on the passenger side at the bulk head where the metal pipe meets the plastic, problem solved :-)

thanks for any useful input!
