I am trying to track down why my radiator fans on my 1998 chim are on all the time. It appears that the wire connected to the otter switch is shorted to ground even when its disconnected from the otter switch. Any one know if there is another circuit connected to this wire. Reason I suspect that there is, is because from the relay to the otter switch there is a diode in the wire, green wire with pink stripe. Having a diode in that circuit would suggest that more that one circuit is connected to the fan relays.

Sounds like someone has previously wired up a manual fan switch. Quite often this is done by replacing the wiper stalk for one with a rear wiper switch built in. The stalk is pushed away from you to activate the fans.

I've checked and there is no fan override switch that I can find. I have replaced the wiper switch with one that has the rear wiper ready for a fan override. I took the body off 4 years ago to do the out riggers and have put it all back together just getting to the last few things that are not working. The fans running all the time the ignition is on is, I hope the last problem.
