Why is it still utter garbish in the race though? Qualifying brilliant, race as bad as ever?

Is the Mercedes wearing through its tyres too quick or affecting the handling with its new system or was it purely the weather?

Either way it seems desperately slow in race

Well, their special DRS system works really well in qualifying because they can use the DRS on all the straight bits (and in fact some corners too, because the balance of the car is much better), but in the race they can't.

I appreciate that but 3 years on and they are still stuck with the same issues as when the car was launched. Poor handling and a huge drop off the longer they get into the race.

Have the just 'thrown more speed at it'?
