I religiously run my Griff on Shell V-Power 99RON as it I find it runs much better on V-Power than any other premium fuel. I have occasionally used BP Ultimate 97RON and Esso Premium 97RON but the car does not seem anywhere near as responsive and almost all the fire, pops and bangs disappear. frown

The 3 closest Shell garages to me all have run out of V-Power. I was thinking about BP Ultimate 97RON + an Octane booster or maybe Tesco Momentum 99RON?

And, I am told, Shell V Power contains the dreaded metal-rusting, rubber-shrivelling, water-absorbing ste which goes by the name of ethanol. Tesco momentum99 doesn't. And it's cheaper.

I've always thought all 99rons are similar and that they are cleaner/better for the engine? Used Esso 99/ Tesco etc etc generally V/BP Ultimate

I tried a bunch of Shell garages just so I can use my bonus points voucher and £3.50 off voucher! Tried 3 and all were out of stock so also went tesco for some 99RON

All my local alternatives were out so had to plump for a bottle of Octane boost this time and some 95 RON. Not a cheap option but...

On the rare ocasions when I haven't been able to get V-power I have found the car runs very happily on Mobil Excellium.

Mostly use the Shell 95 normal grade, on occasion I use V Power, or Tesco 99.

I used to use V Power but now use Tesco Momentum by preference, it's cheaper and the car runs just as well if not better on it.

I've tried Sainsburys super in the Griff - think it is only 97 octane but it does seem to like it. I'm never too comfortable running it on supermarket fuel all the time though and wonder if there is any good info re whether it has the good additives in it - anyone know about that?

Still no V-Power petrol or diesel at Harlow this morning, just off the A11. Good job their normal diesel is good stuff.
