Guys,

Does anybody know what brand of extinguisher is meant to fit in to the standard 996 seat bracket? I believe that the extinguisher is NLA but I am having trouble find any details about it.

Thanks

One for sale here:

There was a similar 997 extinguisher for sale in the classifieds too, if that suit?

Out of interest why do you want one?

I see. I believe that they were all manufactured by Werner, though.

It is a requirement for any form of track day here in Aus along with a secondary bonnet catch.

Hi Guys

While we are on fire extinguishers, does anybody know if it is possible to recharge a Werner type extinguisher as the pressure gauge on mine (2008 GT2) has dropped into the red?

Many thanks

They certainly look refillable to me. Any fire service firm should be able to do it, but Id suggest spending a little more and having it refilled by a firm who specialise in motorsport extinguishers. Ive had a couple of in-car extinguishers lose pressure after a scrimped service at a local firm.

It appears as though the smaller 1kg type I am after is the Gloria range by Kidde.

I am surprised. On a positive note, Gloria are an OEM supplier to a number of manufacturers. If you can find a picture of an original 996 Gloria extinguisher, then I believe that youll be able to substitute an extinguisher from another vehicle manufacturers range, which should be available relatively cheaply.

If its a chubby bottle, which many are, then Id be looking to fit a two litre AFFF or two kilo ABC powder part in its place.

Gloria, Kidde, Chubb extinguishers are all part of the same business.

Just to let you know that stored pressure fire extinguishers require pressure testing every 5 years from the date of manufacture. Reputable companies will not refill/pressurise extinguishers without a current certificate or date stamp on the extinguisher body.
