Works Service Advice
Discussion
I was wondering whether anyone has had recent experience with Works Service? My V12V has just come back from it's service there. The price I was quoted was similar to the dealer where I would normally get it done. Additionally they were able to pick the car up and deliver it in a transporter as I do not have the opportunity to get it there. The communication from them was excellent. It was delivered back on Thursday ready for the Easter weekend.
The issue I had thought is when I looked at the car on Friday morning there was a nice big chip on the edge of the passenger's door. My wife did not notice it as when the car was delivered back, this side was parked close to a hedge and so she could not see it.
I am a perfectionist and it is very small, but I found it immediately noticeable. It has also taken me a lot of time and effort to get the paintwork on the car in the condition it is in today.
I have dropped them an e-mail as they are closed over easter, but wondered it i may have any issues as my wife did not notice it when it was delivered? I have proof it was not like it when it went to Works Service.
Any advice is gratefully received.

Hopefully it will be sufficient - what is it, a dated photo? If you're sure they've done it, pushing hard will get it sorted. WS do not want any bismirching of their reputation! When my car went to Lancaster Reading, the car was inspected visially at collection and then at handover, eveny mark was recorded. Surely WS did something similar?
What distresses me with this kind of incident is that at some point someone opened your door against something and damaged it and decided not to do anything about it. That kind of impact can not go unnoticed by whoever did it (or if it did then they should not be allowed anywhere near Aston Martins).
That means that they probably looked at the door after banging it, saw the damage and decided to do nothing about it which is 1) dishonest and 2) pretty dumb because while I suspect that there are some AM owners that wouldn't notice, the vast majority have pride in their cars and, like you, would.
Therefore they knew that the car would almost certainly come back because of this and know of the distress and inconvenience for the owner to sort it out, and yet still covered it up.
Wouldn't surprise me at all with Audi, but you expect more from AM, especially Works Service.

Unfortunately the photos are not dated, but I also have an inspection sheet when the driver picked up the car showing no damage. I also thoroughly spent 2 days detailing the car before it went taking photos to take note of progress and i know it was definitely not there!
I do not wish to blame anyone, but I felt it strange that the delivery company took the trouble to turn the car around and park the passenger's side close to a hedge and my wife could not see that side. The car was then unmoved before I inspected it. Although it is obviously in the delivery company's best interest to maintain their contract with WS.
It's really disappointing as I know have to go through the hassle of sorting it out, possibly with no solution from WS when I wish someone would have confessed to the issue. They haven't had the chance the respond as yet and so I do not know where I will stand.
I'll let you know the outcome!

The bottom line is, that the mark wasn't there when the car was taken away.... But it was there when the car was returned
It's going to be a case of your word against theirs.... BUT, if they value their reputation, and you as a customer it'll be sorted, with minimum fuss and inconvenience...
I would hope for an agreeable outcome

It's very disappointing when this happens.
My car has recently had work done and after a thorough clean upon its return ( I left instruction that I did not want them to wash it) I have found several marks in the clear coat. This particularly irksome given that I had just recently had it detailed.
I haven't complained (I know i should) and will resolve the problem myself.
I had thought that I may send it to works service to avoid these types of issues but it seems that's no guarantee either
I really don't understand why anyone needs to touch a body panel and mark it.
A friend of mine works for Vauxhall , if anyone touches a body panel it's a disciplinary offence... There are no belts , watches etc allowed in the factory and rings have to be covered... These disciplines need to extend to the dealer network if they're not already.

Sorry to hear this Greg, I would be livid. The file will have a time and date in the properties.
