some info requested from the great body of PH.

for a 1987 924S
1. are there any steel wheels available, porsche or other make, in anticipation of a set for winter tyres?

2. where is the drain plug and filling plug on the gearbox/diff? (i just can't see 'em)

I 'think' ive seen some old press pics of early 924s on steels but never seen 'em on a car. 924 alloys are cheap as chips anyway, £100 ish should bag you a set with reasonable tyres.

Based on the origins of the 924, I would hazard a guess that the steel wheels from Audi/VW of that era may well fit.

For the 5 stud 924S, you could try and make a set of 4 from the spares normally found in the boot. Early 944's and possilbly 924S models had full size 5 stud steel spare wheels, although what widths these were I dont know.

Try e-bay to locate these steel spares, although you wont get a set and will have to buy them individually. £20 seems to be the going rate for them.

many thanks. thinking along the same lines. will try to get a set of cheap alloys, as they look nicer, if none around will go the steel route. want to fit knobbly tyres for the winter, to avoid any "ditch diving" in the snow.
