What a mixture, New Sportage, Merc 350cdi or Evoque
Discussion
This is what the wife has narrowed it down to eventually after much thought and searching. She will drive the car 90% of the time with 2 kids ( mostly town driving, to and from school runs and country rural location where we will live soon) and i will have it for the odd weekend jaunt to the coast etc. 4 wheel drive would only be used on v rare winter occassions as we live at the bottom of quite a large hill, and last winter the current E60 didnt move for 3 weeks.
'Head' says buy the New Sportaeg with a 7 year warranty and in the 3 spec the sportage has lots going for it, seems to get very positive reviews everywhere you look ( 3-4 month waiting list )
'Heart' says go for the Merc 350cdi saloon avantgarde or Sport, as they seem to get alot of positive reviews except for lag when pulling away in 1st
'Head stagger' says if you could find a 5 door Evoque in the right guise! , why not, lets see what all the fuss is about.
So for you would it be Head, Heart or Head Stagger if you had to choose.

Have had a Sportage now for a month KX3 2.0 Diesel Manual
Cracking car. Best "normal" car I have had. Extremely well put together (Feels very Audi/VW/Skoda), goes OK (I am told they can go even better
), reasonably economical for a 4x4 and lots of toys. Oh and a 7 year warranty is quite an incentive
Well worth a drive to see if its for you

Cheers for replies, yes this would be a cash buy
I have already driven the Sportage last week and the evoque couple of weeks ago, allbeit for 2 minutes
Hopeing to get a drive in the Merc later next week after the holidays.
It is hard to justify the differece in the price between the sportage and the evoque to be fair
they both have almost the same level of kit , have to say the interior of the Evoque is a nice place to be, though felt little cramped, approx 14k +- difference in price between those 2 and the E350 sitting somewhere in between.
