Smaller interior mirror?

My Seven, like most, has the full size normal-car interior mirror. Given the closeness of it to the driver it is unnecessarily larger and in combination with the small screen blocks out way more forward view than idea. Has anyone any experience of fitting a smaller mirror that they might share with me - just found several possible ones on vintagecarparts.co.uk; but not sure the best to go with and if mounting off the scuttle (as Superlight) or the header is best /easiest...?

I have a short rear view mirror but I wouldn't recommend it if you have a full roll cage as this obscures the view considerably. It's stuck on with a suction pad to the front window. I'll get the details and a photo tomorrow.

I have a suction type when I have the screen fitted. Lots of choice on eBay for 4 or 5 quid delivered?
When aero fitted I have moved the rear view mirror to hang from the cage as I couldn't see the apex on left handers.

Have you tried turning the mirror upside down (so the dipping switch is at the top), it makes the mirror higher and covers less screen.

I moved the standard mirror to the bottom of the screen, seems to work and doesn't block the view of anything but a bit of nearside cycle wing.

I like the panoramic mirror from mirrorsforsevens dot com. I don't use it often these days, as I prefer the aeroscreen.

These are the photos of mine. The mirror is made by Trafalgar very similar for sale on the net. Just to reiterate I see the cross of the roll cage on in my mirror and barely the seats so you need to drive more like a motor bike than a car with the mirror. Meaning looking over your shoulder a lot/

I use a standard Halfords suction mirror - its the smaller one they sell for checking on your kids in the back of a salon car. Does the trick without blocking out the view of the road ahead.

Thumbs up for the Halfords stick on mirror.
My original mirror fell off and the H. jobbie was bought as an emergency stand-by but stays in place cos it offers better all round visibility front and rear.

The original CC one fell off and broke about a month after we got our car in 2001. Now on 2nd Halfrods suckon mirror, works a treat with a FIA bar, 1/2 hood/boot bag, etc...

I used one of those bent mirrors meant for watching sprogs on the backseat of a people carrier and it was perfect

To aid forward vision, I've actually moved to a larger mirror. It is however a mirror with 2 ball joints on the bracket holding it to the screen. This enables the mirror to be positioned higher than the screen, thus moving it out of the way of forward vision. Available from Car Builders Solutions - ref. no. MINTBIL.
