I have fuel weeping from around the fule sender flange gasket on my 84 280i. I presume this gasket is original has dried out, cracked, deteriorated, whatever. Before I disassemble the unit, can someone tell me if this is simply a flat rubber gasket, or a special moulded part? If it is special, where would I look for a replacement gasket? Thanks!

Mine was made of 'cork' (like rocker cover gaskets used to be) and was broken up and useless.

I made up 3 (or 4? can't remember) thicknesses of standard [thick] gasket paper with blue hylomar between them ('cos it don't dissolve in petrol) and put it back - no leaks since...

Hi Mate...when mine was replaced it was from a mini..I think also a transit van sender is the same..Make sure you retrieve the bolts and the two washers per bolt, There should be a fibre washer and a maetal one per bolt..Cheers..Ziga

I checked out that sender from Zig's link, and mine IS NOT the same.....(1982 2.8)

Not a surprise I guess !!

Just posting so you know there is probably more than one sender type used.
