Well for the first time ever we have got a new car and I'm not even remotely excited frown
On the plus side, nothing has been sold to get it.
Just hoping the OH doesn't get attached to it and want to keep it long!

TVR Griffith smile
Lotus Elise s2 smile
Alfa GTV V6 smile

Now added...

VW Polo 1.4 56 plate - Hmmm lol
Bought cheap with the idea of doing it up a bit and selling on.

Now to trawl the ads and see what they go for smile

How do you know you bought a cheap one if you don't know how much they sell for?

Am I being stupid here? Your post doesn't make sense to me. You say for the first time ever you're getting a new car and then say it's a 56 plate?

I'm confused.

That is how I read it first time as well.

What the OP means is that for the first time he isn't excited about the 'new' car he has just bought. The car itself isn't actually being referred to as new.

Also OP, if you are buying with the sole intention of selling on for a profit, doesn't that make you a motor trader?

Wouldn't you say to someone 'picking up the new car on Monday' even if it was a used car? Or would you say 'picking up the second hand, but new to me car on Monday'? biggrin

I'd write: For the first time ever I'm not remotely excited about picking up a new car.

It wasn't the new bit that confused me it was the sentence structure; particularly the 'not even remotely excited' bit tacked on the end.

As someone above me said it could be read either way and I read it the wrong way.

You are not excited because it's a bland car. Perfectly understandable. Plus if you are using it to turn a profit on then it's hardly a dream car to get emotional about etc.

It's a new car to me!
I agreed to buy it whilst on my holidays, it seemed cheap at 2k so took a chance.
Will be the 2nd car sold in less than a year.
That doesn't make me a trader does it?
First was virtually given away though!
£500 for a Clk!
Either way, if I can make a couple of quid from this that's a good thing smile

I normally buy heart over head so this is uncharted territory.
Sorry for the boring subject! smile
