I think I must be missing a piece of my brain...

I am fitting the doors, and looking at the loom-ends for the interior light switch but...
...I can't find any piccys or info on the factory CD where they go precisely - and...no door switches with the loom???? ...or is there? What do they look like?

Secondly, there is a rather large circular hole in each of the cab front door-jams near the hinges, but no corresponding hole in the doors themselves, so is this for wiring into the door or something else?

Anyone care to enighten me?

Be gentle, I have had a pretty crap Easter with a very agressive water infection (1st time ever) that won't go away even with the Dr's pills.

Nothing like pain I have ever had before...and having to rush for the loo every 30 mins for more pain, is no fun at all! grumpy

Thought only women get this... now I am somewhat more sympathetic!

As far as I can remember, there are no door pins, my pins were installed when the alarm was installed as the alarm needs to know when the doors/clips are open. The large hole is to get the door mirror wiring through with the large plug on the end when you take the door off.

Won't ask how you got the infection! but I hope it goes soon, I've had kidney stones and that pain is bad enough...............

frown Unfortunately I don't have any tales of philadery to tell - I have low immunity due to long-term treatment and apparently this is why.

........doesn't stop my Wife asking where I got it from though! rolleyes

So... The factory do not supply the door switches then, as part of the loom?

Mystery solved then I suppose... Better go-get some halford specials! biggrin

Does anyone know if these switches are like the run-of-the-mill type from the likes of halfords?

cheers

Down to personal choice really. Some of the switches out there are quite poor so worth spending the extra money on good ones.

Do remember that you will need a Cat 1 immobiliser fitted for IVA so you may as well include the alarm option and have the fitter wire your interior light circuit when the switches are fitted for the alarm.

I don't think one is needed now - I had a similar conversation with Ted at the factory a couple of weeks ago about recent IVA changes. Certainly when I went though IVA I needed Cat 2 Thatcham immobiliser fitted (May 2010 test).

Worth a check with the factory I'd say, although also worth fitting such things during build if possible as under dash diving isn't so much fun with everything bolted on biggrin

I've just checked the IVA manual and you do need an immobiliser or a steering lock or transmission lock.

What it does say however is that you do not need an installation certificate which will make it much cheaper to instal as you can do it yourself. In not specifying a certificate I fail to see how they can impose any specification like it must disable at least 2 functions such as fuel pump and ignition.

The bisar twist is that if you go for an alarm/immobiliser it has to be Cat 1 and has to have an installers certificate.

No it has to be something that sets itself when the ignition is switched off or the key removed.
A steering lock sets when you remove the key...an immobiliser sets 40 seconds after ignition is switched off.
