Just putting the big fibreglass dash shroud in at the trimmers and...........I need clarification of the way the heater and air vents function.
There are 3 air vents, one on the lefthand side of the dash and two in the instrument pod. There is a pipe that I think comes from the n/s bulkhead into the lefthand vent, this then branches off on the back of the vent to ONE of the instrument pod vents.....I think this is a mistake and this pipe should branch again to the other intrument pod vent.
There is a fan under the n/s headlamp and I assume this blows through the inside of the wing and eventually gets to the pipe in the nearside bulkhead.
So am I correct in assuming that is the way the air gets to the vents and it must just be cold air??? Also should the 'branch' pipe go to both instument pod vents and not just one as in mine and this was just an oversight from the factory???
Or have I got it totally wrong and the pipe should fit in the heater box rather than the n/s bulkhead??? and then I would be able to get both hot and cold air from the vents. If this is the case what does the fan under the n/s headlamp do??

Not sure how the pipes run but heres how mine work,
I get hot air through all three vents and under dash vents while using the centre console control.
If i use teh 3 speed turn button under teh drivers side of teh dash i get cold air only coming through teh Drivers footwell vent and the right hand dash vent.
Hope that helps... Not sure all Griffs have the drivers cold air vent.

What I'm really after is someone whose been through the same as me. Need someone to qualify where the pipe/plastic corrugated hose comes from before it reaches the 1st vent/nearside vent - does it come from the n/s bulkhead or the heater box - that should explain most things.
Anyway, what's the crack with 'teh' instead of 'the', is it just a bad habit or some new trend that I've missed out on..........bey fro nwo

OK, this is sounding promising - from what you've both said it looks like the corrugated pipe comes from the heater box and can be hot and cold.
And maybe the fan under the headlamp brings cold air in to below the dash via the inside of the n/s wing and can hopefully be channelled to the drivers side as well - I can't really test this theory as yet as I don't have any electics as dash isn't as yet connected.

The afn in the n/s wing runs the main cabin ventilation. It feeds the heater matrix box in front of the glovebox (that tacky, knocked up in 5 minutes looking thing).
This, depending on your heater control settings feeds air to the passenger vent and the left hand pod vent. (I will take your word for it also branching to the right hand pod vent - it makes sense). There is a second fan in the right hand wing, behind the wheel, which feeds cold air to the driver's footwell and the right hand pod vent via the 3 speed fan switch under the dash.

I have chopped a hole in the rear of this o/s wheel arch to get to the underside of the wing last year to allow access for repairing said wing and I will look later for the fan. I don't have (or haven't found yet a 3 speed fan under the dash for the cold air) but I have a button (same as dash buttons) just under and to the left of the steering wheel which may control this 'cold-air' fan.
Is this correct or does this button control something else....it may of course been added by a previous owner.

This was only fitted during certain years (could be 97 but may be wrong). My 96 Griff doesn't have it, neither did my previous 92 Griff.
Edited to say: Looking at Starmist's car perhaps it was 95!

I was really worried about missing any pipes etc off before I fitted the dash pod as I only wanted to do it once!

No, the button you mention cuts all instrument lights except the speedo (sort of aircraft / SAAB idea). The fan switch is (should be) on the right hand side.
