Toyo Proxes...what do I do?
Discussion
Hi All,
Just joined the family as an S1 Exige owner. My ownership kicked off with a brand new set of Toyo Proxes T1-S on the back of the car, with the correct spec A039 still on the front. This was advised to the previous owner as it was a woman driver who did not use the car hard nor did she track it.
So what do I do? Are they rubbish? Am I going to have an accident due to a massive loss in grip from moving away from the Lotus specific Yoko ADVAN's?
I don't want to throw new tyres away if in reality, there is only a minimal loss of performance, perhaps noticeable to the best of "trackers"!!
I raise the point that I am not a tracker yet, nor qualified at this point to explore the full potential of an S1 Exige. (but with the intention certainly of getting there!!)
Any comments would be greatly valued!

Never driven an exige but there is a big difference between the tyres you have. The Yokos are semi slick track tyres (if they are the ones I am thinking of)whereas the Toyos are all weather road tyres. In dry conditions the fronts should produce far more grip than the rears on Toyos and vice a versa in wet / greasy conditions
Why not buy 2 new front Toyos and 2 new rear Yoko's. That way you can have the Toyo's for everyday use and also have a nice sticky set of Yoko's for track / summer use?
Nice car for a first Lotus BTW!

Not a bad idea!
Just out of interest, anybody know where a good deal can be got for Yoko A048's. Oh, and just to confirm, I can put A048's on S1 Exige rims?
I would still like some more comments from any others out there on this, before I part with my hard-earned cash on some rubber!!
