Following on from another thread I just read, am I the only one that despises the vast majority of abbreviations?

I work in the aircraft industry and its fking full of them, everyone abbreviates everything and then you feel like a dick when all these letters are being thrown round the room and noone knows what they mean.

Onto cars and we have just had a thread posted about the abbreviation "Tiv" for a TVR, which lets be honest is ridiculous. Tiv is no easier to type and TVR isn't exactly difficult to say so why does it need changing? I will put my flame suit on before the Tuscan Massiv come into this thread and try to burn me alive.

In summary, I proper hate abbeviations the majority of which are purely because someone can't be bothered to say/type something properly and in some cases make no logical sense at all as they are even longer to say/type than the original name.

Post up your ridiculous car abbreviations or alternate names, some I know of which I do not like:

"Fezza" for Ferrari or Fiesta.

"Beeza" for a SEAT Ibiza (WTF?)

I have heard tonnes over the years which I have clearly wiped from my memory as I can think of no more, they are out there though!

The guy that sits next to me in the office calls my Shogun a Shog-y, his Lotus a Lot-y, basically, every noun, he removes the last syllable and replaces it with a "y"

I want to ram his comput-y mon-y down his fking throat-y most days.
Christ! So would I. frown
