A water leak

Perhaps no antifreeze and it froze and cracked something then dumped itself?

Water pump? Do the cam at the same time.

"Engine Size: 2 cc" Sounds like the water shrank it too.

The weather hasn't been cold enough recently to crack the block, has it?

Love those, we had an 850 T5 and it turned up on Ebay a few years later looking as good as when we sold it, L471 AFE, now 18 years old is still out there, still taxed and in use, brilliant cars, buy it and get it sorted out !

Very unlikely to be as serious as a cracked block (though within the realms of possibility). Much more likely to be something like a heater hose which has simply perished with time and heat and finally burst.
