Not the greatest of days

Settled down this evening to do the fuel pump wiring mod.
Started with having a quick look round the engine bay to make sure everything was tickityboo.
Looked at the rear manifold and saw this
Stuck a pointy thing in and yes the stud had sheered of and wasnt just missing.
So carried on looking round the rest and noticed the front upper turbo heat shield had broken where it fixes to the head. So need to make up a little ally bracket for that.
Looked under the heat shield to see the delights of the front manafold. This was what i was treated to
It has cracked the whole way along one of the welds.
So whats my best course of action? To replace the front manafold?
Wheres best to get the parts I need and what sort of price am i looking at?
Guessing i need:
Front manafold
2 sets of manafold gaskets
2 sets of manafold studs and bolts
Anything else other than some spare time in my busy schedule of house buying at the minute haha!

They all do that - well at least the standard manifolds do. Apparently the latest Noble ones are decent, the Alunox once are 321 grade stainless, there are other options. Don't be tempted to try a weld repair. Replacement is easier if you can get the car up and drop the floor; I did mine on the drive on axle stands. Head gaskets can often be reused, many recommend the Nissan turbo gaskets as an improvement but they are expensive. Jetstream use a standard single layer stainless gasket and that is what I have fitted.

I recall reading about the new standard ones now being better. bearing in mind these have been on 7 years if another standard one lasted 7 years again i'd be happy. Are they better though and will they last the length of a piece of string?
What would the deal be with giving them to a metalsmith to repair. Whats the reason for cracking, weak metal? If so, could they repair and make it stronger?
I'm hoping the rear one doesnt need replacing aswell and it'll just be a case of replacing the studs. Think ill get an expert in to do that bit as i hate drilling studs haha.

I think i'll try and get my eyes on the rear manifold properly tomorrow to see if that was has cracked aswell. That way i know what i need to order.
May have to put off from doing the job untill ive moved into my new house though.
First trackdays not untill July so have plenty of time on that front although the MOT is in May, guessing the crack and stud missing will effect the emissions quite a bit :/

Ironically my car sailed through emissions last year with both manifolds cracked and it's now due again so I'll let you know if you don't find out sooner. I wouldn't suggest using the car now that you've established there are cracks present as the risk of bits breaking off and destroying your turbos is quite possible. I'm just playing with fire really. Stainless replacements hopefully on the way very soon.
