Im going to le mans for the first time this year, really looking forward to it

Im going via eurotunnel, but was wondering if there are any other tunnels on the way to le mans?

Just wondering what my very noisy V8 would sound like in a tunnel

thanks

There are two. One near Abbeville and another as you come in to Rouen. Be careful of the Rouen tunnel however as it's got a 90kph speed camera at the mouth.

Errr, you don't actually drive through the Eurotunnel.

Rouen is great, but the camera will get you as you won't believe it's there and the tunnel is great.... Do you not have any tunnels near Derby to hear it before going to France though?

Or you could do the Dartford Tunnel a couple of times for fun wobble

few very small ones

Ive done the dartford tunnel before, i was heading to london and took a detour via Kent, but that was with straight pipes and standard manifolds. With the longtube manifolds it sounds more like a NASCAR popping and banging like mad on the over run and i really want to get it through a long tunnel.

If i do dartford tunnel i will have to go over the bridge spin it round go through the tunnel and then back over the bridge or go the other way round the M25 which would take forever

rather than use the dartford crossing which is a bridge going towards dover take the blackwall tunnel it is free and if you get a good run the noise is brilliant

At the mouths on both ends or just one - i.e can I creep into the tunnel & come out the other end like a bullet smile

Best Tunnel I can think of is when you enter the Euro tunnel carriages, if your in the front of the Que you have to drive down to the front of the train through the connecting carriages, They tell you to keep the revs down, yea right hehe

The tunnel at Rouen is absolutely brilliant, in 2009 on the way down we followed only what I can assume was the Aston Martin Owners Club. The noise was absolutely incredible - we felt slightly out of place with a noisey Elise hehe. Then on the way back last year we followed a flourescent orange Ultima cloud9

The tunnel at Rouen is fantastic, last year we thought we were being clever revving the M3 and watching flames pop from the Astra VXR in front - but then a German registered SLS, a 458 and a V8 Vantage went past pulling the same trick, they drowned us out completely!

Coming off the peage and burbling through small towns is a pleasant experience too, tuned engine noise sounds great when it's bouncing off old boulangeries.

+1 To the Rouen tunnel.
Quite long, but very busy each time I've been through. Still great fun though.

The one between Boulogne and Abbeville (Much nearer Boulogne I would say, a few miles on from the peage Gare) is perfect acoustically but a little short.
Went through it last year in the GTR with its full Miltek resonated system which was good but I happened to be in convoy with 4 Aston Martin Vanquish's .....
It was like Valhalla in there. thumbup

Went through the Rouen tunnel in 2005 in my 350Z which I thought sounded OK until we heard the convoy we'd stumbled across which included a 360 Stradale and Gallardo. OK so we had a decatted Cerb with us but wow what a noise. I have it on video and it gives me goose bumps every time I hear it!

Hindhead Tunnel is a lot of fun in my Cerb...

Shame i can't upload the video of my Tuscan from this year as that sounded amazing.

One point on the fixed speed cameras, i didn't think there was any way the French authorities can't act on a fixed camera against a uk car. They can with the hand-held stuff, but not the fixed ones.... (I take no responsibility though if that isn't true.... lol)
