1959 Ford Thames Camper Restoration
Discussion
Take a look at this restoration thread on the PPC mag forum, you just can't help but admire the fabrication skills. That's one lucky van to be saved like that. This guy is nothing short of a genius when it comes to fabrication!
1959 Ford Thames Camper Van
I understand it might not be very PH'esque, so I thought I'd mention there's a Lexus V8 involved.
Enjoy!

Far too much time on his hands for a busy man. Where did he find the time to even write the thread?AndrewW-G said:

Also recommend you check out TonyBMW for sheer talent
- really nice guy as well; you'll lose yourself for hours on his thread!http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/65793/1962-...
Just looked at the pics - now there's a labour of love. It certainly won't be cost-effective.
I went on holiday to Wales in one of those in about 1960 - all I can remember is that, even with the Consul engine, it was gutless in hilly terrain. The extra weight of the interior fittings made it worse than the average van - my dad was constantly changing gear just to keep it moving. And the heat and noise from the engine between the front seats made the cabin pretty unpleasant.
That guy is a legend though. Top man. Just don't try to take it on a long trip, mate - you'll finish up torching it in frustration.

Eh? You obviously haven't read that thread through (neither have I yet as some two hours in there's a lot more to go!) but..I went on holiday to Wales in one of those in about 1960 - all I can remember is that, even with the Consul engine, it was gutless in hilly terrain.
