'If you need to go to the loo during your shift, you have to put up your hand. Sometimes they are relieved by the team leader, sometimes not"
Selective relief by BMW team leaders?
And a BMW spokesman stated,
"There is absolutely no evidence that dustbins have been used for anything other than their intended purpose"

Surely it makes sense to not have a production line stop every half hour for 5 minutes whilst someone has a wee? 20 people on a line, 5 minute break in production and you've lost over an hour and a half per day. I don't know the rate at which the cars come off the end, but I bet you've lost a couple of vehicle's worth of production there.
BMW Workers on 8 hour shift with 50 mins of Paid breaks. Mini Workers on 11 hour shift with 53 Mins of Paid breaks and a one hour unpaid lunch break. Only thing missing is the number of days worked but if it's 4 for Mini and five for BMW it's nip and tuck. If it's five days for both then what are BMW complaining about? As for Toilet breaks then it seems that they need to get a grip
. If it isn't organised effectively then yes the workers will have a problem.

Haha, I love that.Also, I have that t-shirt.
Ford have "floaters" on the Jaguar/LR engine line
In a non childish way, basically someone that wonders about and steps in as and when needed i.e. toilet breaks. Guys on the line then take advantage of this and go for 20 min s
ts, the "floater" usually appreciates this as hes bored anyway.

To be honest having to put their hand up is entirely sensible. That was someone else can step in to cover while they use the toilet. Wouldn't exactly be good if the workers randomly wandered off for a piss.
This probably explains the built quality of previous British cars.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
