As some of you know I am searching for a black turbo badge for my 993 to replace the GTS badge I have on at present. I can get a silver turbo badge no problem, but I think it wouldn’t go with the colour scheme of the car very well.

I spoke to the OPC in Leeds on Monday who said they could get one. Went this pm to pick it up and the young disinterested parts chap gave me the badge.....I said this is a 930 turbo badge, to which he replied 'Oh yes, it is'…….Farce.

Does anyone else have any ideas please? I spoke to himself Tha Dogg DeR who said you could get the 944 turbo badge in black, though am not sure if the script is the same? Are the badges from non OEM firms like Jasmine, etc, ok? Or do they look like a poor imitation?

I could get a silver badge and spray it black maybe?

With Best Regards

Martyn.

Another thing I found interesting; I walked into the OPC in Leeds this pm wearing my work gear (slacks, rigger boots, and company polo type shirt) and the girls on the reception desk looked at me like an alien and spoke to me like am imbecile. Quite odd and sad really.

Hi ya MOD, I'm not entirely sure, but my friend has a 944 Turbo and the script on that doesn't look anything like the script on my 993 turbo. I agree with you that your car would look best with a black script but perhaps NOT the 930 type script.

I'm not familiar with the Jasmine/after market type scripts.

If you were going to go the painting route of the standard stainless badge, to be thorough, as I know you like to be, you could get a professional shot blasting company to re-finish it- and get a very good finish!

As regards how the people looked you over/treated you at the dealership- it doesn't suprise me at all, and I think it's quite sad too. Sometimes when I'm all greasy and working on one of my cars, I have no choice but to go to the main dealer to get that bespoke part of some sort....I really can't be arsed with all the Porsche "lifestyle" malarchy- his n hers matching fricken porsche face towels....I'm into it for the engineering excellence.

try; www.design911.com www.porscheshop.com www.type-911.co.uk www.stuttgart.co.uk
I have definitely seen them already in black..I am sure you will find one at one of the many trade stands at Poresche festival in august....a long wait though.

A slightly different script, but the "turbo" badges of the 930 cars were black, these should be readily available.

Thanks very much for the replies.

Have spoken to the suppliers and they are investigating finding me a badge.

I got a black 930 turbo badge from the OPC yesterday, but it is too small and the script isn't quite right......so it will soon adorn the lawnmower!

Have a good weekend
