Anyone been to the Indy 500?

Thinking of organising a boys trip, anyone been? Not really keen on the concept, just want to experience the atmosphere...

Many times - it's a very memorable event. IZOD Indycar series is a very poor incarnation of what it once was, but the party on W16th and Georgetown Road on the Saturday night is pretty special and raceday itself is something every petrolhead should experience. If you need specifics feel free to ask - my first 500 was 1988 and I've only missed two or three since then.

I went to the 1991 race when I was living in Chicago. It was the year the new Dodge Viper was the pace car. Cracking day. Lots going on inside the track too, incl a good museum iirc.
