Howdy folks, just picked up a bargain Mk1 Gleneagles and am starting to sort it out.

Anyone fitted the Roadster wheels in the pic below? Any issues i should know about?

I have 2 of them sitting in the garage, should be able to pick up another 2 pretty cheap.

Any ideas how much i would get back for my 4 Mk2 wheels roughly? I'm not too keen on them.

Cheers,
Olie

Depends which wheels you have, 14 or 15 and which design but if they need a refurb it won't be a huge amount.

The MR2 wheels are staggered AFAICT - 6" at the front and 6.5" at the back. Could they still be safely wrapped in the 195/50R15 rubber used on standard MX-5 rims?

I'm not going for a staggered set. Folk change the rears on the pre-facelifts for 16" etc.

I'll just find sum rears to match.

Much preferring the look of the Mk3 wheels. Anyone want sum Mk2 Mx5 numbers? biggrin

The biggest issue is the correct wheel nuts. I bought one with those wheels fitted and found that the penis who fitted them, used the original mx5 wheel nuts. This is effectively fitting a tapered nut into a flat shouldered hole. Luckily I spotted it ASAP and replaced the wheels pronto. ( obviously I could have bought the right nuts instead, but I got a set of 15" BBS for 85 quid and sold the mr2 wheels for similar. Happy days! )

Also, the mr2 is wider J rears, so you'll get funky handling with 185 front and 205 rears. Not what Mazda planned for the NA.

And then,
