Which is the better 10/10ths car - S2000 or Z4 3.0?
Discussion
At some point I'm considering purchasing either an S2000 AP2 or a BMW Z4 3.0. I'm interested to hear from people who have driven these cars on a blast, people who get into a car and immediately turn off the DSC, ASC or what have you and drive it like it was meant to be driven. I used to own an E46 M3 and 10/10ths driving in it was an incredibly rewarding experience and I'm keen to get back to similar levels of reward when pressing on. Default PH mode says MX5 1.8 sport, complete with LSD, but I just don't think it will feel quick enough since my other half's late SLK 200K feels quite slow to me.
So, which can reward more highly, the S2000 or the Z4?
Thanks in advance.

I think possibly it is the S2000, but the Z4 is quicker and has more torque, plus BMWs, to me, generally have pretty good steering and the pedals seem well weighted and where you expect them to be for heel and toe. With all of those things going for it I thought the Z4 might still be in with a shout.
The S2000 had a major makover/facelift at some point, a lot of people think that this is the AP1/AP2 changeover.
It's not, but most people will understand what you mean.
As mentioned above AP1, AP2 are US designations.
(although, some people will tell you some UK cars have some AP2 parts).
Anyhow.. . . .
S2000, very Raw, very fast. Excellent sports car.
It's a bit of hard work as a daily drive in the winter.
Z4 is probably a lot easier to live wih all year, but not as much fun as a sportscar.
If it's a second car for sunny days and holidays get an S, if it's a daily drive I'd suggest you take a closer look at the BMW.

It will be used for winter and wet drives to work since I've got an R1 for the rest of the time.
VX & Elise are just a little too fragile and hardcore since the wife will be driving it occasionally too.
The Boxster seems like it could have some potentially ruinous issues up it's sleeve, which completely puts me off.

I havent driven a S2000 but I had a 3.0 Z4. and I can tell you that the first thing is get rid of the runflats for pushing the car. they make it tram line, and break away with very little warning. also the bump control at high speed isn't great and can be quite un-nerving. they sound great though.

I would be tempted by a AWD performance car if its sole purpose is for bad weather times.
