is there point in remapping a standard noble?

Hi all,

Is there any value in remapping a standard noble? (GTO 2.5) you know how people get their turbo cars (ST Focus, Cupras, GTI's VXR's etc) remapped and get a nice 20-30% increase? I assume that the standard noble is already maxed out and adding any additonal power through software would just result in damaging the car? - specifically the turbos?

Any advice welcome.

Depends on the ecu I think. if you have Marelli I think its a no go if you have an MBE then yes it can be done,
others will confirm or tell me I'm talking bk I'm sure.
A good re-map can make a huge difference to the way the car drives, as many on here will testify.

Its an MBE - Just dont want to be blowing Turbos/engine etc

remap without pushing the boost up will still make a large difference to the way it drives etc.

resist the temptation to up the power and you should stay just as reliable....

Can you explain more on "the way it drives"? do you just mean like throttle response, smoothness in power band etc?

It depends, if your car is smooth all the way through the range, is good in traffic, has a steady idle etc and you are running stock boost and don't want more I wouldn't bother.
On the other hand, if it wants to stall occasionally, has a rough idle and kangaroos in traffic etc or you want a bit more safe grunt, get yourself down to Yellowshed!

Would like an extra little bit of power if its on offer without damaging the car, so not pushing the limits.

The car used to stall and kangaroo on idle, but since clearing adaptive maps it seems ok, and hoping when the new Lambda sensor fitted it will sort this out for the long term.

My issue here is I am based in northern ireland, so getting myself to yellowshed isnt easy .

FWIW, something to consider is whether the standard map is providing the right air to fuel ratios to avoid damaging pistons, etc. For example, the standard mbe map for M400s (in the US anyway)produces very high combustion temperatures as a result of low A/F under heavy throttling. A remap to increase fuel injections is highly recommended to correct that problem.

I can't speak to the Euro maps and the 2.5.

I have a late 3R and it apparently had the latest map Noble did. Still didn't like the way it drove, especially low in the rev range where it would give a very slight shudder if you gave it too much throttle. Popped it down to yellowshed and he tweaked the fuelling (no extra power) and it's much nicer to drive now.

My Noble M12 GTO 3 is pretty much standard, all I’ve done to Her is fit a Pro-Alloy intercooler, had the cam timing update and upgraded the valve springs.

Then I was off to the Yellowshed for a remap.

Now the car is much more drivable, very smooth at 30mph in fifth gear with no juddering and quick to pick-up.

I have 395 bhp and 410 ft/lb of torque.
