not a hot start problem....
Discussion
Hi, question about a symptom that has been exhibiting itself on my car a few times over the last couple of months.
Start the car from cold, no problem. Drive ~15 miles, park it up. ~8 hours later, go to start the car (fuel pump primes etc) but nothing, dead. Keeping the key turned for 10+ seconds and it suddenly fires up.
The engine is cold, so I can't be sure it's the hot start problem (looked at the getting the modwise kit). Plus it's very intermittent, has happened 2 or three times over the last couple of months.
Any ideas? Could it be the battery condition? dodgy earth connection?
Any suggestions?

I have had a similar issue, it's pretty common, the relay in the immobiliser isn't up to passing the current for the starter solenoid & eventually fails albeit intermittently.
Quick fix it to bypass the immobiliser, although you should really use a relay.
Long fix is to replace the immobiliser!
