Fuel filter... New element wouldn't fit.

Hello everyone, me again!

So I got down and mucky with the car again today, having ordered a new fuel filter. Finally got the bd thing out, and it's about 5-10mm shorter than the new metal one and it wouldn't go back together with the new filter.

Did the earlier cars? (2.5) have a different filter? Mine certainly looks like a bullet but it's gold.

It's at this point I should probably paste some photos but I forgot to take some!

When i got my replacement they asked if it was the blue anodized type, so by that i assume there are two types, this is the one that i got to go with the blue anodized filter casing with red cap..

Bullets can come with blue housing and red cap or red housing with blue cap, I have one of each , never heard of a gold one though.

Mine's shorter, I'm sure. The paper element looked nothing like that either, it was red plastic and flimsy.


Edit: Actually the casing looks the same but the cap of mine is black and longer, strangely. Really should have taken pics.
