The asymmetric 2 are very much the same as the 1's. According to Camskill the only difference is some slight change to the compound (something to do with new euro expectations on more fuel efficient compounds, believe it or not). They are entirely compatible to the 1's I've been told, although I've just ordered 1's (which are still available in 94Y) to match the rears I bought a year ago. THe only problem I've found is running the original F1 Eagles on the front (which l loved, but they don't make them anymore... great tread pattern too) with Assy's on the rear. The axles seem to fight eachother. Got Assy's all around now and the difference is appreciable. Going back to your question, I rate the Goodyear Asymmetrics as a good all rounder. Good wet grip, almost too good dry grip (I prefer a looser, softer compound on the rear really, the Goodies don't giveway enough in the dry, I end up taking a few psi out of them to soften up the sidewalls a bit), but they do seem to be favoured now, particularly after the early (but apparently unwarranted) hype of the Toyo's, the Yoko's (brilliant but barely last 3k on the back) and the 888's (more for track use really). If you disagree, check out the other forums on here, i.e, MX5, Evo, etc. In summary.... good wet grip, (too) goood dry grip, better wear/durability than most.

Thank's for your input Mark, i've got F1s all round, like you get on very well with them, and they do suit the car, but need some rears, front dont need changing at the moment,i've got standard profile's on, 225-35-18 F 235-40-18 R, (what profile do you run?) dont need them for track work as i have 888s on my track wheels.
Regards Ken.\

I run Assy 2 on the back in 255/35/18 and Assy 1 on the front.

Good tyre, I've only ever used Eagle F1 for the past few years on my cars (originally GSD3s, then Assy 1, then Assy 2).

I run by the book 255-35-18 all round. BTW, if there any Sagaris owners out there who want a spare pair of Eagle F1's let me know, as I have the pair I've just replaced for Assy's. They have about 3.5mm on them so probs good for a little while or for a couple of track days.
