Agree it's so much about the car these days, however much of the Schumi bashing over the last couple of seasons suggested that with his ability he should have been able to extract more from a not so good car. F1 is so fickle, a few months back most pundits reckoned Vettel would go on to beat Schumi's tally of championships - which could still happen.
Even Massa might come good again.

Yeah..... thing is though, how many drivers really out peform or 'extract more' from a bad car on a consistent basis? - I can only think of Alonso who falls into that category, and even then you could just argue he finds himself in the right place at the right time; his team mate being so weak he is always going to look good in comparison. IMO if all the drivers were in identical cars there would be very little in it, although personally I would look to Seb, Lewis and Kimi for outright pace with Alonso and Button being more consistent allrounders. Webber isn't in the same league, he is just on a high partly caused by a car that suits his style and partly because his team mate is (strangely) on a low.

Put any of the top 10 drivers in F1 in a car they feel comfortable in and every one of them will dominate. The fact is the red bull isn't to his liking.
As Martin Brundle said today - there are only 24 F1 drivers in a world population of over 7 billion. They are all good, lucky bt? Or alonso when he was at McLaren?
Or button when he was with Honda?

Oh God, did he roll that load of old bds.ks out again?Of course the guys on the grid are the pinnacle of driver talent and that is the only reason they are in F1 ahead of the other "7 Billion" potential applicants
