Schrader pump work with presta valves?

So my new bike has presta valves on its tyres, will my normal cheap hand held pump that i have used with schrader valves work? or will i need to buy a new pump?

I'm pretty sure you can get little screw on adapters for a couple of quid.

Do these fit on the valve itself or the pump?

If its the pump I think it will be a new pump needed as my current one just presses onto the valve. there are no threads as such

Depending on what pump it is, you may find you can remove part of the pump head, reverse a rubber widget and use it for Presta. But a good track pump is the best solution.

I bought one today, screws on to the valve and then use pump as normal.
