Hello All,

Is there any coachbuilders building serious supercars entirely bespoke who dominate the market?

I was chatting to a friend earlier and could not place down 1 company who seem to be the market leader in coachbuilding?

Are you talking about a 100% brand new, no recycled parts from other marques? All custom parts right down to the font on the speedo?

No-one is that daft as that would cost £millions per vehicle.

If not, then what do you think a Zonda is for example?

Ferrari built a custom car for some American millionaire IIRC, and a racing version for last years Nürburgring 24hr race.

Was based on another model though.

As far as new builds are concerned, Pininfarina have done a large number of custom orders, including the two Glickenhaus cars mentioned earlier and a host of cars for the Sultan and Prince Jeff of Brunei.

I was thinking UK based, sorry didn't mention.

If a client wanted something completely unique, taking a new chassis from an existing car and recreating a new body and interior but as if it were completely brand new.

In that case, it depends on the sort of body you want building smile

There are a couple aren't there? What happened to the Californian company who made some stunning things out the previous BMW m6?

Noble, Morgan or Ariel? Or are we counting mechanical bits? noble has volvo engine or mondeo gearbox depending on which model i think. Arial has the honda engine. Morgan is pretty bespoke isn't it?

I believe there is a company in coventry that makes a lot of the 'working' concept cars for the big boys. forget the name of the firm.
If you were serious and had the cash I can't see why they couldn't help someone realise their dream.

The problem these days is that modern cars are monocoques, so the chassis has the basic shape of the standard body and is therefore very hard and expensive to restyle for a result that will look broadly similar.
In the olden days when cars had a separate chassis it was very easy to get one coachbuilt with an entirely custom body

if you're thinking of the p4/5, which you must be, he built it himself. In fact ferrari won't have anything to do with it
