precats and lambdas
Discussion
Just a couple if quick q's whilst I'm finishing some winter work on the chim.
I have had the y peice off as I thought I could here a precat rattling loose, and well I was right, but it has also caused the 'cap' to be knocked off the lambda sensor, so will this still work or does it need replacing?
Also removing them is a pita and I haven't got time to remove the manifolds to have them cut and welded so will it cause any issues if I run with 1 precat?
Cheers

Dont know if it'll cause issues running with one cat but If one precat was loose then it's likely the other one wont be in great condition so i'd see if u can knock it out. It's technically possible to do with the manifolds on the car, although u run the risk of dust working back into the cylinders.
Ideally could you not take the manifold off and just hammer out the other one?

I removed mine last weekend with the manifolds in place. It was just a case of hammering and chiseling until they came out, the best thing I found was a mini crow bar, about 12" long, it allowed me to chisel in then twist. Pain of a job, for my back at least, I removed the lambdas first before I destroyed them with clumsiness (sp).
