I'll take my turn to start this obligitory thread .

Points of interest:-

Raikkonen 3rd, Coultard 11th (must try harder)
Button 8th, Sato 16th (where has all the speed gone)
Montoya 9th, Pizzonia 10th (not a bad claim on the seat)

First practice times don't often mean a lot, but I'm sure that DC is scratching his head and Jungle boy is planning the party of the century.

Perhaps they've put a 15k rev limit on Sato's engine these days to try and stop him blowing the sodding thing up.

Why there is 3 BAR drivers on the practice?

There are 3 Minardi, Jordan & Jaguar drivers too! There would be 3 Sauber drivers if they could afford to pay a third! The teams that finish in the lower positions in the manufactures championship in the previous year can have 3 cars for Friday testing only (not Saturday). So there won't be 3 BARs next year...

Come on BAR

The first practice are usually not anything like the Final Quali times so not to worry.

Bad news, Jenson's engine failed at the end of practice 2 so he will lose 10 places on the grid because of a necessary engine change.

Mr Davidson always comes out top of the BAR boys on Friday practices, but rarely beats them in testing . Suggests that he gets a few more revs than the race drivers.

Point I was trying to make is that Button and Sato are most probably running the same car - unusual to see so many places between them.

I'll go with Martin Brundle on this issue. I don't really mind if Schumi wins all the reaces, as long as he's made to fight to the line for them. At least then its interesting to watch, if the outcome is still the same

The only race that has been interesting this season was Monaco and Schui wasn't at the finish... tells me something anyway!

Watch the touring cars on MotorsTV if you have it.

Shumi on pole now, so this will be a Ferrari Win again!. Unless theres a Safety car period and the trailing Montoya can take Michael out then theres not much hope for there being much 'racing'.

Montoya has a decent chance of taking him out on the first lap too though . Good start and first lap - spot of lunch and watch the post race highlights.

Wonder how much fuel Jenson was carrying - I'd have thought that he'd have brimmed it.

Might be taking a light fuel load chance and try to make up places in the first few laps, the hairpin is one good overtaking spot. Then gamble that when he comes in for an early stop he comes out on empty track and by the time he catches up the cars in front they will start to pit, giving him some more empty track with which to push. Well that's what I would try to do. Short fill the first stop, more fuel on the second.
