I've just biought a beautiful set of RS watanabe wheels for my MX5 that have just had a full refurb. They have a polished alloy rim, and I don't want them spoilt by having wheel balance weights on the edges. Can I just request them to be put on the inside when I get my tyres fitted or do they sometimes have to be on the outside for correct balance?

Yup, you can request the flat type of weight that sits in the inside of the alloy rim.

Regardless of the condition of the alloy, we always use stick on weights, looks much cleaner. Ask the fitter if possible to hide the weight behind the spoke as well.

No bother with them going in the inside but when they're balanced the second time, they may need slightly more weight adding.
