Hi Guys,

New to these forums, but have been reading this forum for the past few weeks and have gained loads of tips.

Had my 1999 135S for just over a year, great car, but I now have a problem with the passenger side window, you've guessed it, it's come away from the runner.

Taken the door panel off to discover a previous bodged job!

I was thinking, is it worth changing to the lighter poly side windows from Elise parts? I'm thinking I could probably drill and bolt these to the runner, instead of gluing?

Has anyone used these poly windows? Are they as tough and scratch resistant as Elise parts say? Will they be easier to wind?

I’m also assuming this will affect my insurance?

Thanks in advance.

Adrian

No experience whatsoever.

But I have seen these - and had also thought along the same lines after my window came loos. Would be interested to see how you get on!

poly windows generally aren't very nice. They scratch easily etc.

Thanks Dan,

Was worried that the PETG windows would be a bit soft.

Will have to attempt to glue the window back in.

Re glue the window with areldite.

Then buy some rubber and nylon lubicant from halfrauds and spray on either end of the window channels, then wind the window up and down a few times.

I did mine years ago and the windows havent come away since.

Absolute bore of a job to do but if you do it properly I'm sure it will be better than an araldite job (which I tried but has never really been right).

When I finally get around to doing it properly it will be done to this guide...

www.elise-faq.info/content/windows/rebond.php

Alternatively you can get a dealer to fix you a brand new one for about £100 plus fitting (1hrs labor) if you really can't be arsed.

Thanks Guys,

Will try the guide, doesn't look too complex.
