Post icon disappearing when editing message

Hopefully just a quickie - went to edit a message I'd just posted, which had one of the pretty icons selected (e.g. Mr Spinny on this post). Noticed that every time you go to edit a post, the icon's reset to "none". Is this intentional or another potentially useless glitch that I've found?
