She's a manual with the dog leg 5 speed box. Bought her off PH on impulse about 4 or 5 years ago for a shade under £3k. Since then, she's been featured in Classic and Sportscar, stolen (keys taken from a break in and she was parked outside), had a later 4.7 high compression engine put in, S4 suspension with adjustable Koni dampers and Hypercoil 600/400 springs.

There is a crank scraper and windage system to combat the oil starvation that can afflict the wet sump 928 engine on track. Special "86.5" exhaust manifolds, a custom 3" exhaust system with y-pipe and swappable back box (my design) that looks kinda stock but sounds really good. Brakes have been uprated to the Brembo 4-pot system as used on the 928GT / 964 Turbo but of course there is no ABS.

She's been up to the Surrey Rolling Road several times. With the standard engine, they have 240bhp; the 4.7 S2 engine puts out 310bhp and 295ft-lb in the S2, but that's with electronic ignition and a different exhaust system. According to the Surrey Rolling Road, she is now putting out 320bhp and 320 ft-lb on the nose. As such it's probably the equal of a 996 Carrera in the real world performance stakes.

Last year I bit the bullet and had a full, glass-out, doors off repaint.

She's going into the garage tomorrow to fix a wayward gearshift, a noisy power steering rack and possibly a slight fuel leak. Other than that, like all old cars, she is 'getting there'...

Simply lovely & upsetting at the same time, I want!. Must say, love the clean lines (& your own touches), much nicer than the later cars imo, same with the Pasha interior. Enjoy.

Absolutely, I like all 928's but the S1 car is much prettier than the rest, so glad it's been tastefully improved. Very, very nice indeed.

The original 4.5 cars never had that wheel, that exact one came in in MY 1984 with the S2.

Another big fan of the pasha interior cloth here. Great exterior colour too.

Is that the original 'Car of the Year' sticker in the rear quarterlight also?

Yes it is... here's a close up of an original one. I had a run of them made, a little bit smaller than this as you can see from the photo of my car, but perfect in every way including the typeface, spacing right down to the slightly offset / out of line alignment placement of the border - very geeky I know boxedin

I have more of them, if you want one they are £5 each, just mail me on hopwood at gmail dot com.

Here's one of my favourite shots of the car from the Classic and Sportscar shoot.

I've now sunk so much money and effort into this car I don't think I could ever sell it.

Yes the 911 is a lhd carrera 2 manual with sports seats and factory LSD. A very different drive to the 928.

Always wanted a S1/S2 928 after watching Weird Science and having a 1/18th airfix kit.

Another car I've "nearly" but no quite bought, one day maybe.

That is really impressive output from the S2 Joel. Lovely car, and I can see how much effort you have put into it.

I'm on my 3rd.. and I hope I don't have to sell my GT. Didn't you also have an S4/GT at some stage? smile

Awesome car!! A nice surprise to see a pleasant coloured interior rather than the usual browns and dark reds.

Am thinking of selling her. Just had our second child and need to get realistic about hobbies.

Have had a wonderful ride with her, and spent far far too much money I will never get back, but I don't have endless, indeed any, garage space and I don't have the headspace or time to tinker with her.

Think I'll see if there's any interest with a classified ad. I need to simplify my life!

Beautiful car, my idea of what a 928 should be exactly! Sadly I don't think I could afford it but would happily look after it!
