A colleague of mine has just bought the afore mentioned Yamaha Sports bike and a mighty fine machine it is too! On the way to the pub at lunchtime we thought we would see the difference between the two machines and on a long straight road at full pelt he was only edging away slightly, there wasnt that much in it, certainly not as much as he was expecting

What a machine, dont you just love TVR's

Not really, hes having the bike re-geared as a result...

Nice one, look forward to seeing your new pride and joy when you find one! I have heard Rob takes time but it should be a good motor!

Are you coming to the S meet in Aug?

Mike

I never said they were slow. I said they must be one of the "slower" Sports bikes. I didn't mean any offence by it.

Not so, according to the following website the R1 and R6 are the same for the quarter mile, take a look its the R17 funnily enough thats the fastest!
www.totalmotorcycle.com/downloads/carmotorcycleperformancecharts-index.htm

Granted Ash's R6 is a standard 2000 model so he says is not as quick as the new ones, but still I stayed with him so am happy!!!

No thanks Paul, didnt really want to 'play' with Ash's R6 as I thought I would be left behind and was surprised to stay near him, but think yours may be a little too hot to handle!!!!

600cc bikes are utterly gutless in comparison to larger sportsbikes in my experience (my zx6r vs my blade).

yep. And an S3 is gutless compared to a cerbera.

In comparison with any car the R6 cannot be considered slow. That was what was being compared.

600s-v-900's there is a big difference. However, in this context I wouldnt describe an R6 as slow.

If I agreed with you I wouldn't have posted, I didn't misunderstand what you said. In my experience 600cc sports bike are slow and I sold mine because it felt slow and I was constantly ringing its neck therefore I can't agree with your statement that an r6 "cannot be considered slow" which is why I posted. The fact that it didn't simply drive away from a v8s (no argument on how fast a car they are BTW) backs up what I'm suggesting. Sorry.

If you want an r6 because you think an r6 is quick you should consider something faster as there's lots of choice given that the r6 is no where near the top of the performance tree.

Mark, the point I was making was in reply to the driver of a Smart car suggesting an R6 was slow. Of course, one defines slow in their own context. For me, the R6 performance (compared to a car, not another bike) isnt slow. It may not be considered that quick in the bike world, but to a car driver (and especially a smart car driver) i would say an R6 is pretty rapid.

I appreciate its not at the top of the boke perf. tree - it has only half the CC And for me, insurance is the arse meaning a 600 is probably at the top end of the insurance limit. A blade would be great, but TPFT would be more than the bike. No bike NCB now and car NCB doesnt carry...
