As per title really, whats the most satisfying mod you have done? could be the one that made the most difference? or the most fun etc

For example changing my Mk2 golf gti engine from an 8v to 16v was the mod that I did that made the biggest improvement, but I also remember in my 'yoof' that drilling the airbox to make it sound 'faster' also put a smile on my face! (and didnt cost me anything)smile

over to you...

eta What car and what difference did it make?

4-point rollbar into Mk1 MX5, made the chassis feel so much tighter in the rear end.

Spending £500 to turbo my MX5 over a weekend was pretty cool. As was making carbon front wings for it. And making the remote-mount master-cylinder hyldraulic handbrake assembly.

Although welding the diff on my Nissan Silvia transformed it in to something that was always sideways. That car, stripped out, with a Exige seat and a harness, was the most fun £350 I've ever spent on a car, I think.

As for the most satisfying mod - five minutes with an instructor (cptsidways on PH) meant that I never suffered from understeer again, and also made holding massive oversteer slides really easy. And it was free.

Putting a ludicrously oversized RamAir cone filter on my Golf VR6. Not only did it add 12bhp and 15lb/ft of torque, but it made the car sound like a TVR under full load! Brilliant value for money too!

Putting a 3" turbo back exhaust with a 100 cell sports cat on my focus st! Unleashes the rally esque sound of the 5 cylinder growl and pops and bangs all the time! Also helped the turbo spool up quicker!

Uprated actuator and recirc valve on my Astra VXR. Got me around 30bhp and 100lb/ft back as the old parts were making it lose power. Felt like a completely different car afterwards.

Lowering and fast-road geometry setup on my Civic Type R. Cured any lift off oversteer and just made the front end ridiculously sharp on turn in. Best £350 a CTR owner can spend.

suspension refresh & full geo on my 993 series 911.

quite literally transformed it from this:

to this:

the difference it made to the handling was night & day, though to be fair even though i put on new dampers & springs plus whatever else needed doing it was the geo set-up by redline racing that really did the trick

Putting a new ECU map on.
Getting rid of the cat and putting on a nice shiny stainless exhaust. ( Last week).
Putting a bigger intercooler on.
Getting rid of the EGR system.

In that order. Pulls like a train now.

Oh and this is on a Landrover TD5. smile

Fitting my Boxster with Dymag wheels. Not cheap - but instant difference everytime they are put on for summer. Best ever mod made to any car i've owned.

KWvariant3 on my former Skoda Octavia is a close second though. Transformed the handling and stability of the car.
