This one frustrates me, if you look at the tailpipes from the back of the car the left side is about 2 inches lower than the right! A couple years ago I asked my indy to see if he could straighten it and he did, when I asked what he did he told me he grabed ahold of them and pulled and pushed on them.

So they are crooked again.

I wonder if the right solution would be to loosen the connection to the bottom of the Y piece and rotate the whole exhaust?

Anyone ever have this problem?

On my wife's Chim the tail pipes have their own secondary connection just after the back box. (the plate bolted to the chassie) so I was able to loosen just the offending pipe and twist that then retighten.
Might be worth a look...

Mine came back with a twist in the box after sleeving.
It has some extra packing on the nearside mount above the chassis plate now to compensate.

The exhaust is attached to the plate which bolts to the chassis with bolts and rubber bushes
To align the tail pipe ends correctly you squash these bushes more/less.
Undo the connection to the Y piece then tighten/loosen the bolts for the bushes. Its a bit of a faff but but not technically difficult. If you can get it on a ramp it would probably only take 15mins all in.

It might also be that the bushes are perished and won't squash/unsquash any more. If so you'll need 3 pairs of bushes like these clicky

Mine recently dropped on one side and on closer inspection the offending pipe had broken free from the silencer box! Might be worth a closer look.

The exhaust can also be adjusted by changing the number of washers between the metal plate it sits on and the chassis rails as well. By changing the number/combination of washers you can adjust it side to side to level the exhaust tips. You can also raise or lower the whole system, or just the front, or the rear of the system this way as well.

My tailpipes were "wonky" after refitting the exhaust after sleeving.I thought I could correct this with a bit of foot pressure on the higher pipe.Just as I put my weight on the pipe I felt it snap away and the pipe went straight to the floor. furiousIt had broken clean off at the weld to the box.I had it re-welded and is now level with the other pipe.smile
