MY 07 E60 M5 "Red Cogg" Transmition failure warning
Discussion
Can anyone advise ?
I occasionally get the above warning for a few seconds when I come to a standstill when the car / engine is cold ie within 1/2 mile of home.
Everything works and sounds fine and once the engine is warmed a little it never happens.
As soon as the warning goes the on board check says "No Faults"
Could this be due to cold (thick) gearbox oil ??
Thanks
Mike

Mine was exactly the same. Under instruction from BMW the dealer first changed the release bearing, then the clutch, eventually the gearbox as well. Went in yesterday for the oil change after the first 1200 miles on the new box and finally all OK. Mine is the second one the dealer has done with the same issue. It was all covered by the warranty. Only debate now, is that after all that, the dealer is struggling to get them to pay for the oil change, which is a bit bizarre!
