As I'm getting my steering rack refurbished thought may as well do a suspension refresh/up grade at same time. Planning on New shocks, wishbone bushes and droplinks. What else is worth doing st same time and what's the opinion on poly v stock for the bushes and rose jointed or stock for the droplinks ? Standard road use only.

Poly bushes and rose-joint droplinks for me. If you're DIYing it then allow a couple of days to do the lot.

Now your asking!! What ever you are planning it will escalate once you start removing things - simply because whilst parts are off it is just too tempting not to.
I did new top and bottom ball joints, shot blasted and powder coated suspension arms, new rod ends, new poly bushes, new bolts, new brake lines, new discs / pads and everything else painted/treated. With hind sight I would also use the improved accessibility in the wheel arch to access the exhaust manifold bolts for a tidy up and new gaskets. Let us know how you get on with the steering rack as they are concern to us all!

My refurb planned for GGP's and polybushes. Whilst fitting them I found I had a duff rear wheel bearing which needed a new hub c/w bearing kit. Everything else cleaned up OK so was just refitted.

I've just had my front ones done for £60. I don't know how competitive that is but it seemed reasonable to me and seems a very good job.
If you're going to powder coat your wishbones make sure that you test fit the poly bushes first and remove any weld around the bores that may interfere with the thrust washers. To test fit the poly bushes you need to remove all traces of existing powder coating first or they won't fit in properly. Don't worry, if you've cleaned the bores properly the new bushes should slide in and out again fairly easily. When you take them to be powder coated make sure that the bores and the faces at the ends of the bores are masked, otherwise you will end up having to clean them out again!
This all sounds a bit of a faff, but if you don't carry out the process in this order you will regret it. David.

I think it cost me around £80-£100. It's the bushes that take ages and crank the bill up.

New Shock absorbers.
Wishbones off, shotblasted and powder coated, polybushes fitted.
ARB shotblasted, powdercoated and polybushed.
Steve Heath droplinks.

Hi, I am right in the middle of doing my front and back suspension refurb. Cost was press out all old suspension bushs and pop the two ball joints out £145.76 inc. Shot blast and powder coat £75 inc. The powder coaters said oh yes we will blank of all the holes, did they heck I now have to clean them all up.
