Use of the 'My cars so fast, its litre bike fast' phrase seems to be popping up with increasing regularity on pistonheads recently.

Not particularly wanting to rehash a cars vs Bikes thread as I think they are two totally different vehicles used for two totally different purposes, and I like both.

But I find this phrase particularly annoying, as currently being the owner of a couple of litre bikes, one current and one ten years old, and a couple of sportscars, I just would never say this. It wasn't true ten years ago, and its isn't true now.

Cars aren't better than bikes, and bikes aren't better than cars. Both are fun, but anyone using the above comparison is just daft, because cars and bikes don't accelerate in the same way and are not comparable.

I've been on pistonheads a little while now and every cars vs bikes thread turns out to be a complete disaster for both sides. So can we agree to report anyone who uses the above phrase for immediate banning?

"My bike's so slow it's litre car slow" is more applicable to me...

But yes, agreed...

Hey, I'm a pressure group of one, on a pointless tirade. You can't load me down with your list of deserving phrases. smile

Never seen that on here to be honest but 'litre bike fast' actually sounds like someone a bit special has typed it.

i have never heard it either tbh, but any car that is 0-100 in the low 5s would be a bit special imo.

your usual impreza with a noisy exhaust wouldn't stand a chance.

just googled, an MP4-12C does it in 6.1 or 17% slower

I'll give you a clue. Its commonly typed by anyone who has ever put an LS motor in replacement of any cars original engine.

Must be some car to be litre bike fast. laugh

Though I expect whatever car it is, you can probably hit a pothole in it whilst avoiding likely death or paralysis! hehe

The only car that I've been in that approached the sort of acceleration I have experienced on a bike was a tuned V8 Westfield Seight belonging to somebody on here. My brother has had some reasonably quick bikes (Kwak GPz1100, ZZ-R600), but a lot of it is down to the "feel" of it. A very quick but insulated luxury GT/Sports car will never have the raw feel of a bike or 7 type car. 2 up on my bro's old KMX200 felt quick!

'Litre Bike Fast' sounds more like something a tramp would say to the guy in the off license.

JamieP's Supra maybe, if it got enough traction, which is quite unlikely.

There are quite a few (non standard) cars that can out accelerate a litre bike. My mates seriously modded Mitsubishi Evo6 leaves my RR3 Fireblade behind very easily on a straight road. Throw in some corners and I may as well be walking!
It does owe him more than 15 times the cost of my bike and as soon as traffic is involved he struggles, my bike needs a lot less TLC too.
