Halfords have an offer on Magnatec oil today £17.50 for either 4 L of 5w30 fully synthetic of 10w40 part synthetic. Which oil would anyone recommend as I am informed that the fully synthetic might be too thin for an old Rover V8 engine. I am aware that TVR recommend Mobil 1 but just throwing it out for your thoughts.

I have just had mine serviced and they recommended a change from Mobil 1 15w 50 to Millers XFS 5w/40. On asking they said Millers was better for the engine in their experience and they are very experienced so I am happy.

One of the TVR independents that is well regarded for his knowledge and experience of these old donkeys in fancy dresses commented that he just uses a decent 20w50 which seems pretty logical given the engines roots ...
